… with a strange name… Happy Sunday Everyone!!
It is Sunday here in the Bay Area, the weather today is as close to perfect that one could hope for in March (sorry everyone who’s weather is not cooperating, it will soon), the usual weekend household chores were mostly done yesterday, the laundry just finished, now what?
Did you ever have a space of free time that you either didn’t know what to do with or can’t decide among the many things that can be done, that you end up doing nothing? Yep, yesterday and today have been those days.
Yesterday, instead of the plans I had, I ventured out to the patio to do a bit of early spring pruning, focusing mainly on the coleus v. meandering Linda and v. Kong Mix, the two patch’s of Snowstorm Giant Snowflake, and the Lotus, Amazon Sunset, Parrot’s Beak. The next thing I knew, the day was near done, and I was left wondering to myself; ‘Where did it go?’.
The coleus took a severe haircut and I am hopeful they will grow back with the onset of Spring. There are many plants I adore for many reasons; however, a special part of my being is reserved for the coleus.
It was these two coleus that made me stick with the patio garden, even as life was proving tumultuous and painful, the coleus and their mixture of deep red foliage and greenish/yellow accent gave me what I was missing in my life at the time, a sense of accomplishment and a canvas which was of my creation to work as I saw fit!
I still have yet to move the Lotus v. Amazon sunset, Parrot’s beak, alas, I think I will do that shortly, as it is too nice of a day to sit indoors. I need to trek out to the grocery store anyway, moving a plant is usually a good motivator for treating myself to something.
So the question again presents itself to me, ‘Now What?’
When all else fails and options are limited, I am left with only one fall back plan: Head to the Grand Avenue nursery to see what is available! Yay!! Stay tuned for what I found. Until then, I will leave you all with a few more photos from yesterday and today.
HAPPY GARDENING FRIENDS!!!

From Michigan I’m feeling tremendously jealous of your sunlight! Today there’s still a dusting of snow here, but the ground was workable enough for me to do some digging and put in a new stone edging on one of my beds. I couldn’t believe how much time had passed when I came inside. I love when whole days to disappear into gardening bliss!
They are some of the best day’s, aren’t they? Spring is right around the corner, I can’t wait!
Thank you for checking out my blog! I will see if I can send some sun toward Michigan for you.
